Congress to Convene Special Session Called by the President

PALIKIR, POHNPEI - October 27, 2017. In accordance with Presidential authorities under the Constitution of the Federated States of Micronesia, President Peter M. Christian has called for a five-day special session of the Congress in Palikir to begin on October 30, 2017.

The President’s stated reason for the Call was for a “few important matters [that] were not able to be addressed at the last session…” and among his listed matters were the fiber-optic cable project, the 2018 Micro Games and a new consulate office in the United States. Also listed for consideration were nominations and emergent funding needs of the national government.

Speaker Wesley W. Simina and members will convene therefore on Monday at 10am for the Second Special Session of the 20th Congress to address the President’s listed matters. 

As usual, the sessions of the Congress are open to interested members of the general public.
