Christmas Message 2011
by
Speaker Isaac V. Figir
Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia
As we gather across the nation to collectively and individually celebrate Christmas, your FSM Congress, Vice Speaker Martin, Floor Leader Harper and Members of your Seventeenth FSM Congress along with our families, join me in extending to each and everyone a Christmas abundant with blessings of health, peace and happiness.
Christmas is for most a time to take a break from our daily routines to take part in merriments, feastings, exchange of gifts, but mostly a special time to share with families and friends. While these traditions are varied in celebration, they are all premised around one common factor – a birth in Bethlehem long ago. An event that today remains a powerful symbol of hope for a better future. An event that today remains the greatest leveler in our society of varying cultures, languages and beliefs. It is one of the underlying keystones of our Nations’ unity.
Therefore, as we come together amongst families and friends to celebrate Christmas, let us also take time to reflect on what has transpired the past year and be thankful for the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us as individuals, as a people and as a Nation. And as we look forward to a new year, let us also remain committed to meeting the challenges of the new year together – as individuals, as a people and as a Nation.
Members of your Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia and our families wish each and every one of you, a Christmas abundant with blessings of health, peace and happiness. And may these blessing of Christmas enrich your life and lives of your loved ones’ throughout the New Year.
