
Speaker Wesley W. Simina’s letter to the President indicated that in addition to its work on the FY-2017 budget, the Body would deliberate on “matters of importance and urgency to the nation” and requested understanding and cooperation to ensure the session is a productive one.
May sessions are traditionally referred to as Budget Sessions since its primary focus is the national government budget; Congress therefore calls in the national departments and agencies to explain their proposed budgets.
The Fourth Regular Session of the 17th Congress is scheduled for 20 days to end on May 26th unless extended or shortened through Congressional Resolution. As usual, the sessions of Congress convene at 10am in the Congress Chambers in Palikir and are always open to the interested public.
