Japan Ambassador Horie Visits Speaker Simina

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. July 28, 2016 – Ambassador Ryoichi Horie, the new representative of the Government of Japan to the Federated States of Micronesia, met with Speaker Wesley W. Simina on Thursday to introduce himself.

The courtesy visit was Ambassador Horie’s official introduction to the Speaker and the Legislative Branch of the national government.  The Ambassador reassured Speaker Simina his wishes to continue the close working relationship between the two governments, especially on issues of mutual interest.

They continued with discussions of various areas of mutual interest, especially Japan’s Association for Promotion of International Cooperation (APIC).  At the end of the visit, Speaker Simina echoed the sentiments expressed by the President for the FSM government to work closely with the Government of Japan through the Embassy on matters of mutual interest.
