PALIKIR, POHNPEI. January 09, 2023– Speaker Wesley W. Simina has called for the Sixth and final Regular Session of the Twenty Second Congress to convene for 20 days starting on January 11 thru January 30, 2023.
The Speaker has notified the President and the leadership of the Nation that on January 11, 2023, the Congress will meet in Palikir to continue its review of measures that are still outstanding and pending before the body prior to the end of the current Twenty Second Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia.
According to Title 3 of the Code of the FSM, as amended, the Congress is to meet in three Regular Sessions that begins on January 10th, May 11th and September 12th of each year, unless the Presiding Officer sets a different date. Accordingly, the Regular Sessions are for 20 consecutive days, unless shortened or extended by Resolution.
As called by Speaker Simina, the January session is to convene a day later on the 11th at 10am Pohnpei time in the Congress Chamber in Palikir, Pohnpei. After over two years of pandemic restrictions and lockouts, the sessions of the Congress are once again open to the interested general public.
