PALIKIR, POHNPEI. April 18 2014 – Speaker Dohsis Halbert met with the President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and welcomed him to the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia when the President visited the Nation as part of his official tour to the Pacific Island Countries (PICs).
The President’s tour is to the PICs to convey Fiji’s appreciation during the transitional period of the shaping of Fiji’s new Constitution and to reaffirm Fiji’s pledge towards building closer ties with its Pacific neighbors.
During their meeting, President Nailatikau shared with Speaker Halbert Fiji’s current electoral developments and highlighted his nation’s election set for September 17 this year. Speaker Halbert commended the President on his nation’s progress to date and reinforced the FSM’s continued support for Fiji’s continuing efforts for sustainable democratic stability.
The meeting concluded with Speaker Halbert hosting the President and his delegation to some local refreshments in the Office of the Speaker.
