PALIKIR, POHNPEI. September 11, 2014 – Speaker Dohsis Halbert has postponed the opening of the Fifth Regular Session from Friday the 12th of September to convene instead on Monday September 15, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Congress Chamber in Palikir, Pohnpei.
As set by law, the Fifth Regular Session of the Eighteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia is to convene on September 12th for 20 days unless extended or shortened by resolution.
The September Session is normally when Congress approves the FSM Government budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Speaker Halbert has further called for the Chairmen of all Standing Committees to meet in Palikir prior to session in order to finalize their reports for submission during the first week of session. According to Speaker’s letter, the session would “finalize the Fiscal Year 2015 budget and deliberate on other matters of importance and urgency to the Nation.”
Sessions of the Congress are open to interested members of the public.
