Speaker Moses Welcomes new U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

PALIKIR, POHNPEI. September 14, 2026. In a move to strengthen long-standing diplomatic ties, the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy to the Federated States of Micronesia, Mr. Andrew Wylie paid a courtesy call on Speaker Esmond B. Moses of the 24th FSM Congress. The introductory visit served as an official meeting for Mr. Wylie to familiarize and acquaint with the leadership of the legislative branch prior to the opening of the 5th Regular Session of the F.S.M. Congress on September 15, 2026.

Speaker Moses welcomed Mr. Wylie to the F.S.M. Congress and began the meeting with open and shared discussions for both leaders to casually share insights from their respective careers and backgrounds, blending diplomatic priorities with personal perspectives. Speaker Moses focused the discussions on the distinct subtleties of Micronesian culture, the foundational role of family in local society, and reflected on historical visits from high-ranking U.S. dignitaries to the Nation over the past years. Mr. Wylie shared perspectives from his extensive career in the U.S. Foreign Service, highlighting insights and experiences gained from his previous diplomatic assignments in Sweden and Vietnam.
